Biking in the Basement!

After my last post over here, I did walk in Relay for Life and it was a great experience (other than the heat and humidity). I did also manage to injure my foot in the process (metatarsalgia), so I've been told by my orthopedist that I can't walk for exercise for now. I could swim (if the campus pool was open right now), but I know that will be tough when classes start. Instead, I bought a recumbent exercise bike. I've had it for just over a week and have been riding almost every day (one day I was gone all day in Capitol City, but that's the only day I've skipped). According to the bike, I have burned 1250 calories this week!

I'm feeling really good about exercising regularly again (despite my foot) and just hope I can stick with it when classes start. Here is what I listened to today. It's about 38 minutes (and it was on shuffle, so I didn't listen in this exact order). All songs are available on Napster.

Ghostdancing - Simple Minds 4:45
Boy - Book of Love 2:57
I Touch Roses - Book of Love 3:22
Battlestations - Wham! 5:25
Edge of Heaven - Wham! 4:31
Fascination - Human League 3:45
The Lebanon - Human League 3:44
Love Song - Simple Minds 5:04
World in My Eyes - Depeche Mode 4:26

New Music

I haven't done a play-list in a long time!

This has become one of my fave's. It's some of my favorite tunes from that crazy time called the 80's. What's great is I have used this on the elliptical and the treadmill. You could even use it on a walk outside. It's all good.
  • Our Lips are Sealed by the Go-Go's
  • Pulling Mussels from a Shell by Squeeze
  • Who Can It Be Now? by Men at Work
  • Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen
  • Veronica by Elvis Costello
  • She Bop by Cyndi Lauper (Who doesn't love her??)
  • Hazy Shade of Winter by the Bangles
  • Radio Free Europe by REM
  • Let's Dance by David Bowie
  • Life in a Northern Town by The Dream Academy

Approximate run time: 35 minutes

Yo Active Academics....I Did It!!!!!

I have been keeping up with my workouts, despite the beginning of the semester heinousness. I have a good schedule that allows me to keep my Monday, Wednesday, Saturday schedule. Also, I am back down to a solid size 12. My goal is to get into a size 10 by the end of the year.

I love this interval workout. I would also like to increase my speed on my interval workouts too. I am jogging at 4.1, 4.3 and 4.5. Baby steps, as always!

I also love this playlist for the interval workout I just mentioned. It's some of my all time favorite rock songs. They are great songs to run to. Plus, the Rocky songs at the end really push you when you feel like quitting.

Total time:41.8 minutes
Under Pressure, by Queen and David Bowie
Where the Streets Have No Name by U2
Jump by Van Halen
Synchronicity II by the Police
Barracuda by Heart
Rock the Casbah by the Clash
Baba O'Riely by the Who
Going the Distance by Bill Conti (From Rocky)
Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti (From Rocky)
Waiting on a Friend by the Rolling Stones.

Get Your Groove On!

After a two week hiatus due to vacation and allergies, I am back on my routine. And what better way to get back in gear than with a new playlist.

Who says that disco is dead? It's just been in the witness protection program. Possible side effects of this playlist include a sudden urge to strut down the street with paint cans and shaking your booty while working out!

This playlist is about 37 minutes long.

  • Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees
  • Dancing Queen by ABBA
  • You're the First, the Last, My Everything by Barry White
  • On the Radio by Donna Summer
  • Car Wash by Rolls Royce
  • Shake, Shake, Shake Your Booty by K.C. and the Sunshine Band
  • Disco Inferno by the Tramps
  • Jive Talkin' by the Bee Gees
  • If I Can't Have You by Yvonne Elliman
  • I Just Want to be Your Everything by Andy Gibb

Enjoy!
