You want to get back in gear now that the semester is over. But how? How do you start the process? Sure, it feels overwhelming; it would be so much easier to just say forget it.
Here are some things to help kick start your return:
- Read this post from the March Challenge.
- Avoid pie in the sky thinking. Come up with a realistic goal and break it up into smaller goals. Look at past 2008 Challenge points and adjust to your needs. I have posted them at the sidebar.
- Refresh your routine. Find an activity that you can get excited about. Maybe there is a new class or a new piece of equipment you would like to try. For example, Dr. Four Eyes is trying boot camp. I have embraced the elliptical. Ragey is most like getting ready for marathon season.
- Find your currency. What is the thing that will get you off the couch and into the workout gear? Give yourself a small reward for doing your workout. Maybe it's a long bath or an invigorating shower. Maybe it's enjoying your favorite TV show that you DVR'ed. Maybe it's a dish or ice cream. Find your incentive and go for it. The reward is sweeter after it is earned.
- Write about your progress, the good, the bad and the ugly. That's what we are here for! Besides, being accountable makes the goal more real.
- Stock up on healthy foods. Now that the warm weather is here, it's a great time to get all of the goodness! Get rid of the garbage food. If it's not available, you are less likely to eat it!
- Above all, love yourself.
You can do it!!!
