Pep Talk

It's been a little quiet around here. How's everyone doing?

I know it's tough with all the all the stuff we have to do on a daily basis. If I could, I would clone myself. But I probably wouldn't have time for the surgery.

But the truth is that you are doing yourself a disservice by not taking care of yourself. As Ragey posted, exercise can not only make you look better, but feel better too.

Think about it. When you are healthy, exercising and eating well, you have more energy to tackle not only the daily stuff but all the unexpected stuff that comes when you least expect it. When you are depleted, you can give what you don't have. And when you have nothing to give, the result is exhaustion, depression and over all crappiness.

So even if the scale isn't moving as fast as you would like it too (and it never does), remember that it's all about feeling good as well as looking good. Embrace the good feelings that you have as a result of your healthy choices.

Yeah...I know. Intellectually, I'm on board with eating better and exercising but the physical doing of the eating and exercising is a little harder.

Still, I'm making small improvements. Tonight, for instance, I made myself fix a decent dinner, even after getting home late: cheese omelette with salsa, small green salad, peaches. I've managed two days of exercise since the challenge, although they haven't always been strenuous - let's call them days of movement.

It's an effort, at least!

Well said Seeking, well said. This is a timely post as many areas across the country have been in the throes of terrible weather. I'm sure it is quite difficult to be motivated to get moving when it is bleak, cold, or rainy out.

I do, however, want to echo the sentiment of the post. Exercising may help to alleviate those feelings that come with no-so-good weather.

Get moving and it just may improve your overall outlook!

I can't exercise because I'm bruised all over from having fallen off the friggin' fitness wagon after just one lousy week. How's that for an excuse? Sigh....

Phd Me: Great dinner idea.
As long as you are moving, that is great. Keep it up!

Mad Hatter: You can always get back on the wagon. Remember, it's baby steps.
