Target weight set

I had a physical a little less than 2 weeks ago and I talked with my doctor about a good target weight for me. It turns out what that the weight I've been shooting for, 170 lbs, is just right. For my height and age that weight will give me a BMI of 26. According to various charts that is still in the overweight range. A healthy BMI should fall between 20-25 which I would be in if I were to get down to the weight recommended by WW, 155 lbs. Realistically, I know that is not going to happen for a couple of reasons. One, I don't think I could maintain that weight. Two, I don't think I would look good at that weight. And finally, it is just not going to happen.

I am still shooting for 170 lbs and I had my doctor write a note stating that is a good weight for me. I will submit that to the folks at my WW center as a goal weight. Currently, I am 9 pounds away (as I have been it seems like forever). I'm determined to get there though. I will do so eventually and I will be patient through this process. I didn't come this far to give up.

I'm still training for that 5K which I run on March 26th. I'm nearing the end of my 3rd week of training and it is going well. I have been pretty consistent with my time for running 1 mile, about 9 minutes. For the most part, I have been running on an indoor track. Though last weekend and early this week I was traveling so I ran on the treadmill in the hotel. That was very different and I was able to run at a consistent pace. This morning I ran outside (in the cold) and I am sure I was slower than my normal pace. My goal is to mix up my training over the next 5 weeks, with the indoor track, outdoor track, in the neighborhood, and on the treadmill.

Overall, I'm pretty excited about my progress and I am looking forward to the challenge of the 5K.
