My goal this week was to work out at the gym 4 times. It is now Thursday and I've gone twice. The only way I can make the goal is to go both tomorrow and Sunday (plans Saturday), neither of which I'm convinced I'll do. I have two semi-valid excuses for this:
1. An experiment ran 45 minutes into my after-lab workout time today and I really didn't want to get home that much later. I actually managed to make it TO the lab at my new earlier time which compensates for leaving earlier. I've been struggling with that one.
2. I am somehow re-straining/injuring my back by using the elipical thingy. I pulled it (or something) probably two months ago when I was doing a lot of strange leaning over to collect data. I keep re-bothering it with mundane things around the house, but the eliptical has pushed it into the Extreme Pain with Trouble Walking phase, which is kinda scary. I wasn't certain my hypothesis was correct until yesterday when I could barely get up from sitting on the floor. I have an appointment tomorrow to get it checked out and hopefully some tips on how to stretch or something.
Request: Lunch ideas please!
I need recipes or even just what you like to pile on a sandwich. I am terribly apathetic about lunch these days and find myself wandering the campus cafe like a zombie searching for brains. I typically bring the sides: two or three servings of fruit, a granola bar. I cannot think of "main" dishes for the life of me. What goes in your lunch?

It sounds like you have a sprain-strain. The best thing is rest and light stretching. If you are open to chiropractic care, I highly recommend it. Just make sure you find a DC that works you toward fewer and fewer treatments and not keep you in treatment forever.
I like lean turkey breast sandwiches with lettuce, tomato and a little honey mustard. If you have a microwave available, some of the Lean Cuisine meals are nice. Just add some fruit as a dessert. Also any leftovers from the night before.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
One of my favorite lunches: a whole wheat tortilla with a little (just a little) cream cheese, herb of choice (I use a poultry seasoning, husband uses bbq seasoning), onion, avocado, turkey, and sprouts (or lettuce or spinach or arugula). You could add turkey bacon if you'd like.
Chicken salad is also easy - shredded (or maybe canned) chicken, cut up grapes, celery, onion, and a little mayo.
I'm really bad about bringing lunch (rather than buying), but when I do, it tends to be leftovers of pasta or rice dishes - pasta with mushrooms and spinach, pasta arrabiata, that kind of thing. As for sandwiches, I really like tomato and fresh mozzarella with basil (though I probably eat too much of the mozzarella!).
I hope your back feels better soon - that is a miserable feeling!
cheese and crackers?
yogurt, fruit and granola?
cold cooked pasta with feta, onions, cherry tomatos and olives and some italian salad dressing?
Mostly I do leftovers from the night before (if you have a microwave)
I like to make tacos - I used ground turkey, an awesome homemade seasoning blend, diced tomatoes/jalapenos, mexi corn (it's the best) and sometimes beans. Occasionally I have rice too. I make this for dinner, but I make extra and bring some + a tortilla for a yummy burrito the next day.
I also make burritos sometimes and individually wrap them in foil. Then I can grab one for a "main dish" easily. I plan on posting these recipes soon, but for now, please email me if you want them.
Seeking: I've seen chiropractors in the past, but on those occasions there was a distinct instant where I felt my back go out. This seems different. We'll see what the doc says today.
Thanks for the suggestions thus far! We usually don't have many leftovers, but I do have microwave access. Making wraps or burittos should be pretty easy.
my husband likes to pull his back muscles too. I watched him work out and saw that his posture really played a part in it. Watch how you're back is aligned while on the eliptical. If it's too hard to initially figured out, focus on tightening your ab muscles while on it and eventually you'll see/feel how it straightens out your back. A few times and then you should do it naturally.
