Four Down

Wow. It's been a month since the last post. But that's OK.

Work has kept me pretty busy. But, I have managed to lose four pounds for the month of March.

WOOHOO!

I've been trying to squeeze in three days of exercise. But, usually it ends up being about two. I figure with all the walking I do when I teach, that has to add up, right? Still, I am trying to fit in three days and not beat myself up for only getting two.

I've also been more conscious of what I am eating, portion-wise. I am more mindful of how much I eat. Also, I am trying to curb "stress eating". In my younger days, I couldn't eat if I was under stress. Now, if I am stressed, I will eat anything that isn't nailed down! And, if you follow me on my blog, the last few months have been a stress fest.

I have to actually catch myself stress eating. It's kinda hard, but I think I am getting better at it. It's much more of an issue at work, which is usually the cause of my stress. So, if I feel the urge to eat, I keep some healthy treats on hand in my desk drawer. I also try not to keep any change or dollar bills, so I can't raid the vending machine.

This also means that I have to lay off the Coke (No Pepsi). Since I can't drink alcohol anymore (RA meds won't let me), I increased my Coke intake. That really didn't help matters. Rather than go cold turkey, I am allowing myself one 20 oz. bottle of Coke that I nurse for a week and only at lunch. I drink water the rest of the day, including when I teach. I have this 20 oz. mug that I carry with me.

Seems to be working for now. I am happy about that.

woo-hoo on being 4 lbs down! it is the small things that add up to a big loss! keep at it!
