Off the Wagon

The exercise wagon, that is. I've been dutiful on Weight Watchers (for the most part), and I had no problem meeting July's challenge. My problem is this: it's too bloody hot to do anything. I don't want to go outside, and my old house doesn't stay cool at all -- even with window units. So I end up starting the day with the best of intentions and then not doing much exercise at all. I can feel (and see) that I'm losing muscle tone, but I just don't seem to have the motivation to do anything about it. Do y'all have ANY suggestions?

I am so with you on this one. It's TOO hot to move. I've been getting my exercise in just by walking around air conditioned places. Head to the mall (leave the wallet at home though....learned that one the hard way) and just walk through it, take an extra lap or two around the grocery store before you start your shopping. Stand in front of a fan and do 10 minutes of free weights. And HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE. I can't motivate myself at all when I'm dehydrated, so keep the water handy!

Move to High Plains City! We haven't hit 90 degrees yet!

OK, I know that's not possible . . .but I do like the fan idea. Maybe take a hat or bandana, soak it in water, and put it on your head while you stand in front of a fan and do free weights? That's what I do (the hat/bandana part) when I'm backpacking in the heat.

Great suggestions, Kai and Dr. B. Thanks so much. And Dr. B, I'd love to move anywhere that temps are under 90 all year long. :-)

I am a little late to the conversation, but what both of these fine people mentioned is great.
