I heart gmaps pedometer.

It's starting to get where I can run outdoors again. I'm a wimp,so it has to be at least in the upper 40s and be light outside--no running alone in the dark for me. Today was actually a tad chilly for me--lower 40's and windy--but Chica pushed me out the front door and told me to run. So, I did, for the second time this week.

I love being able to come home and plot my route on gmaps to see how far I ran. On Wednesday, I was really surprised that I ended up running almost 3 miles. I think if I had gone to the gym, I never would have run that far on the treadmill; I would have given up around mile 2. It helps not to have that little display monitor in front of you. Today, knowing that I didn't need to run that much further to break 3 miles, I ran 4 blocks further than on Wednesday (and ended up doing a 5K+).

I also like to use gmaps to set goals. For example, I just plotted my goal for the next few months: I want to be able to run to a particular road--just because it seems far and I haven't run to that point yet--by sometime this spring (no set time frame yet, maybe May?). If I run my regular route but extend it to get to this point, then it'll be a 5 mile course. Totally doable.

Right now, though, it's time to get out of my running clothes and into the shower.

I wish I could go outside for my workouts. Still too cold and there is 20 inches of snow on the ground!

I'm with you, I totally have to cover the monitor on the treadmill when I'm walking/running or else I give up much sooner than I should.

SS, I was totally thinking of you when I posted that, knowing you have weeks (months?) before things warm up for you.

Kai, I try that, but I'm never good at keeping the monitor covered. If it's there, I have to look at it.

Just came over here from another blog. I am trying to get back into shape as I get better from UC and started Remicade two weeks ago. I love the recipes!

Hoping to run the Chicago marathon this fall!
