challenge x 2

So, two days a week, huh? I didn't do too well with the January challenge, so here's hoping I can turn a new leaf with this month's. I always have such high hopes...

So far, I've not done too badly. Saturday I had the vigorous exercise of shoveling snow out of my driveway - and it was the heavy wet stuff, not the light, fluffy stuff, so I definitely worked up a sweat.

Today, I went to the gym and got back on the treadmill for my 45 minutes of treading. I plan to go Thursday, as well - fingers crossed.

It helps that a few of my girlfriends are also trying to create some healthy lifestyle changes. We're trying to offer friendly support in our efforts to improve - calling each other when we go to the gym to see if the other person wants to join, offering a gentle reminder when we're out for dinner that fried foods are not our friends.

So, in addition to the challenges we face here, I'm trying to impose one of my own: to order water with every meal I eat out. Sometimes I order soda just because it's there; I have plenty in my fridge at home so why not skip it and choose a healthier option? I need to drink more water anyway and this seems like an easy way to increase my intake. I'll save a few bucks, too, which is always a good thing.

Don't beat yourself up. Shoveling snow counts as a workout!!!

I like the idea of order water with a meal. I do that a lot too.
