I hate to admit it but I haven't been to the gym since the end of November. The end of the semester rush hit; I got a sinus infection; suddenly it was Christmas; and now it's been over a month since I hopped on the treadmill. I fully intend to head back to the gym, though; next week is the official beginning of the semester, so I'll consider it my official return to exercising, too.
I did manage some vigorous exercise this week, however: painting my office. It's not a particularly large office but I definitely worked up a sweat pushing my paint roller around. Not to mention the constant squatting required to get down to the baseboards - my leg muscles are still sore, the admittance of which, I realize, reveals how completely out of shape I am.
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about my weight and exercise - my health, in general - this year. I don't have any set goals - number of pounds to lose, for example - because I just want to concentrate on becoming more active and feeling better, physically and mentally. I think I'll feel much better about myself if I can work on those general things instead of focusing on a certain weight or dress size!

I believe you are the right track, phd me. You are focusing on achieving an active, healthy lifestyle and that, in turn, will help you achieve those general things. Those small things, in the long run, will pay off big dividends.
Cheers to you! Painting is tough!!!
Keep up the good work!
I hear you on the painting thing. We just painted the entire second floor of our house, and it was a hell of a lot of work!
