this time, I ate the lettuce

Okay, time to assess my week. Not stellar but not awful, as evidenced below.
  • I went for three walks this week, two strenuous and one not so much. I'm trying to see my walking time as thinking time and that does help me get out the door.
  • I took the stairs in my building and the parking deck almost every time I could. By the end of the week, my will was a little weak, I'll admit.
  • I've added some arm exercises to my nightly calisthenics. Now, I don't do much of anything at night, just a few back stretches to compensate for weak lower back muscles, so that's nothing to get excited about. This week, however, I picked up the 5 lb weights and used them every single night.
  • I made some inroads on decent eating. No ice cream until Friday night. I fixed something for dinner every night rather than relying on chips or crackers as a meal. I finally went to the grocery store on Friday so that night I had a salad and an egg roll, with grapes for dessert. Last night, I had pesto tortellini - frozen but the key there is portion control. Tonight I'm fixing a tuna steak and some steam veggies. I know, I actually said veggies!
This week, I'd like to walk at least three times and keep up with the eating of decent meals. The issue for me isn't so much calories (right now) as fixing decent foods that incorporate some vitamins and minerals. I'm surprised I don't have scurvy with the way I avoid fruits and vegetables - not because I don't like them, really, I just don't fix them. Now, I have a bag of grapes and a bag of mixed greens in the fridge, plus bags of frozen veggies to steam in the freezer; I even bought pita pockets and grilled chicken strips so I can take decent lunches this week. If I can hold to those two things this week, I'll be happy.
