One of the key things Ive done in the process of my weight loss journey is journal. When I decided to make a concerted effort to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle I decided to see what I was eating on a daily basis. I didnt purchase a special journal or anything of the sort. I used my daily planner and I wrote down any and everything I put in my mouth. If it was a peppermint, I wrote it down. If I ate an apple, I wrote it down. A cookie, it was noted. Drank a coke. It was written down. I used my daily planner because I generally had it with me on a daily basis, no matter what. I will say it was a challenge to journal on the weekend, but I did it nonetheless.
Doing this allowed me to see the amount of high caloric foods I was ingesting on a daily basis. Once I began Weight Watchers I began to change the types of foods I was eating. I continued to journal and noted marked changes. I drank more water, ate more fruits and vegetables, and cut out high calorie foods. I still ate the same amount, but not the same thing.
Journaling is not an easy task and it does take a conscious effort to do it. However, I am of the belief that it is a good starting point. Currently I dont journal as much as I did when I first started on my journey. However, there have been times when I return to the act of journaling. It is one piece of the puzzle that I need to keep me in line.

I am not good at journaling my workouts or eating habits. I probably should give it a try. It might help on those days when I feel like I am not making any progress.
I totally understand not wanting to journal. It was not something I took to easily, however it worked for me. It helped me to see what I was eating. I guess, in a way, I journal my workouts too because I add my workouts to my calendar. I put it in my schedule as an appointment, with myself, so that I will actually go to the gym!
