My new years task (I hate calling them resolutions) was to meal plan more and cook from scratch as much as possible. A month in and I'm proud to say that I've stuck with it!
My freezer is stocked full of home-made foods and my intake of preservatives is significantly lower than before. I still run into trouble during/around travels, but overall I've kept with it. Unfortunately I have been gaining weight lately, but I know that is a function of how much I've been eating, not what. Portion control is definitely next on my to do list.
How is everyone else doing on their resolutions/goals/tasks for 2009?

Hi, new here! But I had a similar goal for the new year. I love to cook, and I eat low-carb to watch my weight (because I also love to EAT).
I started a spreadsheet with a recipe in each column - most of my recipes come from food blogs, so I put the title on the top, the link underneath, and the list of ingredients under that. Every week or so, I'll scroll through the sheet, pick the recipes I want, and copy and paste the ingredients into a grocery list, print it, "go shopping" in my kitchen, then head to the store. BTW, it isn't all recipes on the list, sometimes it's just "pork chops" or "steak" - if I don't add that no brainer stuff, I'll forget about it and end up cooking some nutty recipe every day of the week.
It is working well so far. I have a dream of the recipes being sorted by type (entree, side, dessert, etc) and the ingredients sorted by type (spices, dairy, etc). But that will certainly have to wait until spring or summer break! But keep up the good work - I am right there with ya.
So far so good. I enjoy my new workout classes and I have been faithfully taking my vitamins.
Cheers on the homemade food. I bet you feel great!!!
