For many of us, it's back to school/work. If you are like me and had the summer off, it's now time to re-think your schedule and where does exercise and eating well fitting in that equation.
It can be easy and rather tempting to let your exercise routine and eating habits fall by the waste-side. You are being pulled in many directions. You are tired and no doubt, grumpy and stress. The last thing you want to do is put on your exercise clothes or cook something when putting on comfy sweats and flopping down on the couch feels like a better option.
So what is a poor academic to do? If I knew of a magic pill or a way for you to get a clone, I would not be wring this post!! What I have found is that exercise has to be scheduled like anything else in your life. Even squeezing in a 10 minute workouts here and there can make a difference. Changing the way you do things like using the stairs or parking a little further away helps too.
So your challenge for September is to look at your schedule. Where can you fit in exercise...even just a little bit. After all, every little bit helps.
Don't forget to share your ideas or ask for suggestions!

I thing I did this semester which I have done in the past (and this might work for other grad. students) is sign up for a P.E. class. It's a P/NP based solely on attendance so it forces me to exercise at least once a week. Plus I don't have to pay because my fellowship pays for all tuition and fees. Now I just have to work on scheduling other days to exercise!
Good challenge Seeking! I've decided to add stopping to walk in the park when I leave campus late, to avoid missing my work out. I'm going to take you up on this challenge for sure :)
