Moving Forward

I got on the scale today. I weigh 172 pounds. Jeez. Since I lost my job, I gained 12 pounds! It's no wonder. My workouts have been minimal. In fact, the past two weeks, I did NOTHING. My husband is frustrated with his weight too. He is gearing up for spring training with his running club, but he has not worked out much either. He us up to 221 pounds. We were both pretty depressed about this while on our Florida vacation.

So, we decided that we would make a new commitment to fitness. We have another beach vacation scheduled for early August. We decided that we would take the necessary steps to loose 15-20 pounds by then. That's about 1-2 pounds per week. We set up a workout schedule that will motivate the both of us. One idea is that when he goes to the track to do his running club workout, I will go too and walk. We also agreed that we should do something active on Sundays, like taking our dog out for a long hike. (Our dog is a little pudgy, but unlike us, he feels pretty good about himself. But, he gets tired after only 30 minutes of play with his play group, so he is on the program too!) Plus, the crappy weather has finally broken in my neck of the woods, so both my husband and I can take turns walking the dog on a more regular basis.

Sunday, we ( my husband, the dog and I) walked on a bike trail near our home. It was about 3 miles. We felt awesome afterward, although I can't say for sure how the dog felt, but he did take a long nap afterward!. The dog had is playgroup last night, where he ran and played with his dog buddies for an hour. Today, I did 40 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes of weights. Husband will do his workout before dinner. I have permission to nag if he slugs on the couch!

Our diet is pretty good, but we do have some weakness. My husband loves potato chips and beer. I am a carb queen and love Coke (Not the diet stuff). The dog is on a new diet of cooked meat and rice mixed with organic dog food. Thankfully, all of us love fruits and veggies, including the dog. We will be planting some of our veggies soon, so that will make some great meals.

So, I am hopeful that things will turn around . I am trying not to beat myself up about the weight gain and just focus on moving forward.

I like your last statement Seeking, it is very positive and shows that you are focused. Also, you have a solid plan in place and the support to get it down. Additionally, the plan calls for you to lose the weight gradually!

All the best!

I need to get back on track also. I owe this blog a post.
