No Excuses

I have a trip planned to Florida for April. I am also going on another beach vacation in August. So, I really have to get my butt in gear. I have slacked off a little over the past couple of months. I could rattle off all the excuses, but that would be counter productive.

Today, I tried a new workout which was featured in the April issue of Shape (pg. 194- treadmill workout). I modified it somewhat to fit my fitness level. The modifications are in parenthesis.

(0-4 minutes: Warm up to a speed 3.5 mph.)
0-4 minutes: Walk at a speed of 3.5 mph at a 3-6% incline (4-6 minutes walk at 3.5 mph at a 3.0% incline).
4-6 minutes: Jog at 5.0 with a 0% incline ( 6-8 minutes: 4.0 mph wit a 1% incline).
6-8 minutes: Walk at 3.5 mph at a of 3-6% incline (8-10 minutes Walk at 3.5 with 3% incline)
8-10 minutes: Run at 6.0 mph with a 0% incline (10-12 minutes: Jog at 4.0 with 1% incline).
10-50 minutes: Repeat sequence four times (12-30 minutes: Repeat sequence.)
50-52 minutes: Cool down (30-34 minutes: cool down).

This was a fun and invigorating workout. It went very quickly, since you are changing speeds often.

I highly recommend listening to the Police, Every Breath You Take, The Singles for this workout. It fits the speed and changes. Plus, the Police are way cool!

This is a great idea for a workout. Thank you for posting it! I have been working out more over the past week or so again, and I appreciate ways to change it up on the treadmill.
