Mom decided to "inspire me" by leaving me some magazines to read while she was on vacation. She enjoys reading the stories about a people losing a ton of weight--she finds it inspirational. So I sat down last night to look through the mags.
Girl in early 30's loses 109lbs. Ok I figure that should be interesting. She joined Weight Watchers (with her husband) and after their first meeting they spent two hours cleaning out their kitchen of bad foods. "Those two hours were the hardest. After that, it was all easy." Yeah right!
I don't beleive it first of all. Losing all that weight was easy? She didn't struggle at all? huh. Also--as my husband pointed out, why don't we ever see articles about people who need to lose 20 lbs, or 40 lbs...something more relate-able. That's why I don't care for these stories, these magazines, I don't feel inspired. I need something I can related to on a personal level--like when mom lost weight a few years ago for my wedding--that was inspiring.
I have no idea how to tag this one.

I'm with you! It is not easy! It takes work and that person sees it as being easy now that she has lost the weight. Her perspective has totally changed. She is really doing folks who are struggling with weight loss a disservice.
